TRY Rugby: Ages 5–14
TRY Rugby is a fun, fast-paced introduction to the game for athletes ages 5–14. Games are played in a 7s-style format, with 7 players per team on the pitch and two 7-minute halves.
The game grows with the athletes, introducing new skills and contact elements as players progress through each age division:
U8: Flag rugby with an emphasis on running, passing, teamwork, and learning the fundamentals of the game.
U10: Players are introduced to tackling, but there are no rucks.
U12: Players tackle and ruck, with uncontested scrums.
U14: Players continue developing the full game, including tackling, rucking, contested scrums, and lifting in lineouts.
TRY Rugby is designed to help young athletes build skills, confidence, teamwork, and a love for the game in an age-appropriate progression.

High School 7’s
After three successful TRY Rugby seasons, Black Sheep Rugby Club is proud to launch its inaugural High School 7s program for Fall 2026. This marks an exciting new chapter for our club as we continue providing athletes with opportunities to grow and compete at the next level. Additional information regarding registration, schedules, and eligibility will be announced soon.
Our high school program is designed for athletes who are ready to challenge themselves and elevate their game. We believe that success is earned through commitment, discipline, and a relentless pursuit of improvement. Every training session is built around developing technically skilled, physically prepared, and mentally resilient rugby players.
Our philosophy is simple:
Work Hard, Play Hard – Train with intensity and compete with passion.
Accountability – Take ownership of your effort, attitude, and commitment to your teammates.
Skills First – Master the fundamentals before building advanced techniques.
Iron Sharpens Iron – Great players make each other better by competing, encouraging, and pushing one another every day.
Next-Level Development – Prepare athletes to compete at the highest level their ambition and dedication will take them.
Team Above Self – Individual success comes from putting the team first.
Whether an athlete is new to rugby or looking to compete beyond high school, our goal is to develop confident, disciplined players who are prepared to succeed both on and off the pitch. Black Sheep Rugby Club is excited to build the future of high school rugby in Northern Colorado, and we can't wait to welcome our inaugural team this fall.
